Biography:
Laura was raised in the seaport town of Port Jefferson NY, surrounded
by creative people. She grew up working with her hands, drawing, and
feeling very connected to nature. She earned her BA in Book Illustration
from The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. A Class assignment
involved creating a portrait in clay. This was the seed that ignited
her artistic passion. While attending FIT, a part time job in the Garment
District with the promise of travel to the Orient side tracked her from
her original intent, pulling her into a full time career as other aspects
of her life took priority. During this time, her travels to the Far
East and Greece were wondrous experiences which have obvious influences
in her clay work today. Laura now resides in the Pocono Mountains in
Pennsylvania, where she is devotes her attention to pursuing her dream.
Drowning in inspiration, she explores form and volume.
