The
human face always intrigued me. It was the first thing I ever
drew and it was the first thing I ever created in clay. In learning
about the "Green Man" and in creating my own version
of him...I've found a way to unite my love for the face and of
nature.
The Green Man's history pre-dates Christian history. He is a composite
of a human face and vegetation. It is a symbol reflecting the
knowledge that man and nature are interdependent of one another.
The Green Man is also a symbol of hope, renewal, and of spiritual
knowledge. I've used a stylized version of the oak leaf as the
vegetation surrounding my designs.
